Wealthy businessman Robert Carstairs is murdered before a dinner party in his home. Mrs. Carstairs is hosting the lavish party, where Penny Parker is a guest. When Jeeves, the Carstairs’s butler, is cleaning the chimney flue, he discovers the body of Robert Carstairs.
Penny Parker sleuths around, yet she is held at gunpoint by Max Walling. Walling reveals to Penny himself to be Robert Carstairs business partner. When Max is caught in shady dealings by Carstairs, Walling decides to end the relationship in permanent fashion.
