Melchior is an inhabitant of a higher plane of existence known as the Brilliant City. Powerful humanoids existed in this city, pure, enlightened, clean and filled with knowledge and an a idealism many other realities could only hope to aspire to.
Creation
Melchior is a Marvel comics character, created for the X-Man series by writers Warren Ellis and Steven Grant and artist Ariel Olivetti. Melchior first appears in X-Man #67 – Shockwave: part one: Infinities of Evil

Melchior, an inhabitant of the the Brilliant City is conversing with his peers, his friend Qabiri insists that outsides present a very real and future threat to their chaste and pure way of living and existence.
Melchior strongly opposed the arrival of Nate Grey in the Brilliant City. As well as objecting to the return of fellow Brilliant City natives Qabiri and Idris, saying that them leaving the Brilliant City and being exposed to the multiverse had made them impure and unfit to remain in the Brilliant City.
Eventually Melchior, like all other inhabitants of the Brilliant City, lay humbled by Nate Grey who proved to them that they are not the supreme beings they thought they were. Nate showed that the Brilliant City, which now lay in ruin, and its inhabitants where, to the Higher Gods, less than ants.
Powers and Abilities
Melchior is extremely powerful, possessing extremely powerful energy manipulation powers. Extremely durable and robust, Melchior could withstand all manner of physical and energy attacks. An inhabitant of the the Brilliant City, physiologically Melchior is many multitudes superior to normal human beings. Melchior is long lived and essentially immortal, having existed for eons. Melchior peoples have even been described as unfathomable. Melchior possesses super human levels of durability, power, resilience and durability, and he can generate and manipulate potent and massive amounts of energy, enough to destroy worlds. He can travel dimensions, read minds, traverse through realities at her will, form powerful force fields, and sense other life forms. Melchior can fly under his own power and exist and remain unaffected by the void of outer space.
