Messiah

Origin

When a gene bomb was unintentionally set off by Detonator, Messiah used his powers to become the crimelord of Los Angeles.

Creation

Messiah was created by the Chaos Comics original duo, Brian Pulido and Steven Hughes.

Character Evolution

Diagnosed schizofrenic, the altar boy Joey ran away from home. At the end of the Vietnam war, his brother Judge found him deep in the Viet Cong territory. Naming himself Cyrus Krill, Joey was killing innocents for no reason at all. He was shot by Judge to stop Joey from killing innocents.

Joey survived however, and was able to track down Judge. While Judge was at work, Joey killed Judge’s wife and daughter, leaving Judge a note.

Years later, Joey headed project Pandora, making a genetic bomb. It was then that he was discovered by Judge, who had devoted his life to avenge his family. Judge attacked Joey and together they fell into the reactor. The resulting explosion gave people superhuman powers.

Joey became the superpowered Messiah. Residing in the Compound (the former Federal Court Building, downtown Los Angeles), he was the leader of the Ravengers.

Seeking to add Detonator’s powers to his own, Messiah forged a plan to lure him into the Compound. After his lover Mindbender had abducted the powerful Reactor, he knew Detonator would join Reactor’s teammates into rescuing Reactor. During their battle, Detonator told Messiah he was his brother. Detonating them both, Detonator killed Messiah before reforming his own body after the blast.

Powers

Messiah is able to absorb superhuman powers from other superhumans and adding it to his own, killing them in the process.
