Major Story Arcs

Michael is a non-costumed, super-powered enforcer working for Camden Stone, a mob boss in 1960s Chicago. Because he is super-powered but does not wear a costume, he fits in a difficult area of jurisdiction between the police, who deal with non-costumed criminals, and the C.O.W.L. superhero union, which is in charge of super-powered villains. C.O.W.L. considers men like Michael to be cowards for not putting on “colors” and admitting to their powers.

C.O.W.L. members Eclipse and Grant Marlow get a call about Michael as he beats on somebody who owes the mob money. When they get there, Eclipse wants to call back-up, but Grant, who has been fed-up about other stuff all day, runs after Michael.

Grant is just a sharpshooter, and has no powers, so Michael starts beating him down, injuring him badly. But Grant manages to pull out his gun and shoots it down Michael’s pants, killing him.

At first the internal investigations team says the death was justified. Grant’s injuries spur Eclipse and Radia on to attack Stone undercover, without C.O.W.L. authority, creating a complex political situation. Due to these and other actions, the union later reverses its position and fires Grant for use of excessive force as revenge against him, Eclipse, and Radia.

Powers & Abilities

Michael has superhuman strength of an unknown degree. He is at least strong enough to crush someone’s bones by grabbing their arm.
