When Michael and his brother were children his mother, Lucy Robinson abandoned them to join Tobias Messenger‘s group of mutants called the Promise. Years later she returned to him with the X-Man known as Angel to try and explain to him what happened. She tells him that his father and her were fighting and that she was a simple housewife that was swept up in Tobias’s crusade to save the world. Michael who was now older than his mother didn’t want anything to do with mutants or the mother that abandoned him so he sent them both away.
