Michel Vaillant is the youngest son of Henri and Elisabeth Vaillant and the main character of the series. He is a complete pilot and a sportsman. His main occupation is driving in the Formula 1 world championship. Michel is called world champion in four different albums. After starting as a truck driver with his uncle Benjamin, he won the Indianapolis 500 twice and the Le Mans 24 Hours five times. He also raced in rallies, winning the East African Safari and the Paris-Dakar. He has also competed in several stock car, Formula 2, Formula 3, Formula E and FIA GT races.
He is also able to drive motorcycles and trucks and he enjoys soccer, rugby, gymnastics, tennis, judo and skiing. A kind, serious, helpful, attentive, honest and generous man, Michel is very popular1. His many aptitudes, his courage and his values, his kindness and his physique make him an almost perfect hero, without any flaw2.
He is married to Françoise Latour, journalist and daughter of a major press boss. He met her in the album Le 13 est at the start in 1966, and married her in Girls and Motors in 1974. They have a son, Patrick, whose birth is announced in a short story in 1979.
