Origin
Michelle was born to a Hong Kong businessman Bernard Chang and a Native American woman. Years later, Michelle is a warrior and fighter who seeks to avenge her fathers’ murder at the hands of Heihachi Mishima. After the first tournament, Michelle returns to her mother. Michelle’s family has many artifacts passed on by ancestors that seem to have great power and worth. Mishima family research into Native American artifacts reveal knowledge of one particular artifact in the possession of the Chang family. Kazuya Mishima orders the kidnapping of Michelle’s mother to ensue her participation in the King of the Iron Fist tournament. An angry and determined Michelle enters to save her mother. The Mishima’s relent, with Heihachi kidnapping Michelle herself in order to attain her pendant which is supposedly key in controlling an ancient fighting god Ogre. Michelle’s adopted daughter Julia Chang enters the third King of Iron Fist tournament to find and save Michelle.
Creation
The character Michelle Chang, is a Namco Bandai character. She was first introduced in the popular fighting video game franchise Tekken, debuting in the first incarnation of the game, Tekken released in 1994. She makes her first appearance in a comic book with the Namco Bandai produced comic book Tekken Forever #1. Although a popular character within the first two installments of the hit fighting game series, she is succeeded by her adopted daughter Julia Chang for much of the games stories and games merchandise after.
Powers and Abilities
Michelle is an accomplished and trained fighter, specializing in Chinese Kenpo and Xing Yi Quan based Kung Fu. She has the strength and fitness level of a person her sizes who trains and conditions on a regular basis.
