Min Farshaw

Origin

Born in Baerlon, Min was raised by her father, who allowed her to indulge her tomboyish interests. When he died, she passed into the care of three aunts, all of whom did their best to make Min into a more proper lady. For the most part, they failed. She discovered the uniqueness of her clairvoyant powers around the age of six or seven. As a young woman she found employment in an inn, where an incident caused her to swear to never wear a dress ever again. At some point she made the acquaintance of Moiraine Damodred.

Creation

Min was created by Robert Jordan for his book series The Wheel of Time, making her first appearance in the first book in the series, The Eye of the World. She made her first appearance in comics in Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time: Eye of the World #10, written by Jordan and Chuck Dixon and illustrated by Andie Tong.

Major Story Arcs

The Eye of the World

Min speaks with Moiraine after the latter arrives in Baerlon. She later encounters Rand al’Thor as he explores the city, having recently arrived there after fleeing his home in the Two Rivers. Her oracular visions and mysterious manner unsettles him, and he leaves her in the hallway at the inn.

Powers and Abilities

Min has oracular visions that come to her in the form of image auras that float around the people being viewed. These visions most often occur around channelers, ta’veren and Warders, but also often occur around regular people. The only known beings around whom visions do not appear are Ogier. She can occasionally interpret these images instinctively, but sometimes the meaning is unclear to her. Her visions are always correct. They are not related to the One Power, and probably involve glimpses of the Pattern. She is also capable with throwing knives, and is a gifted scholar.
