Miss Jane Marple is an elderly spinster with a sharp eye and even sharper mind, who frequently turns her hand to solving mysteries, especially murders. She lives in St Mary Mead, a small village in England.
Creation
Miss Marple was created by Agatha Christie and first appeared in the short story The Tuesday Night Club in The Sketch magazine in 1926. Her first full length novel was Murder at the Vicarage, which was originally published in October 1930.
