Miyamoto Musashi

Miyamoto Musashi c. 1584 – June 13, 1645, was a swordsman and rōnin in Japan during the glory days of the samurai. Learning to fight with the sword at the age of 13 he was never defeated in battle for the next 60 years until his death by natural causes.

He was also the founder of his own style of swordsmanship and The Book of Five Rings, which many consider the greatest book on tactics, strategy and the philosophy of defeating any opponent ever written.

Naturally such an individual has been depicted in many manga as well as a recent graphic novel translation of The Book of Five Rings produced in America.
