Origin
Mordius was a scientist for Advanced Idea Mechanics. After their near destruction by Captain America and S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Agent 13, Mordius became a prospective leader of the terrorist organisation hoping to take over from MODOK.
Creation
Modius was created by Archie Goodwin and Gene Colan in 1968.
Major Story Arc
Modius was the main villain in Iron Man #1 (May 1968). He was vying to become the new leader of A.I.M. and thought defeating Iron Man and copying his armour will allow him to do this. Mordius had The Golden Avenger kidnapped while he was battling The Maggia. He managed to make duplicate copies of Iron Man’s armour but due to a refractory coating on the armour the duplicates were defective. Unfortunately for the mad scientist Iron Man not only escaped but blew up A.I.M.’s secret island HQ to oblivion on his way!
