Mourning Prey was the creation of Martian scientists. She was rescued by Immortus and given a safe place to breed and lay her eggs in the great vibranium mound in Wakanda. She encountered the Avengers and her offpsring attacked several Avengers. They fought back until Mourning Prey used her telepathic powers to communicate with Captain America. She revealed that her swarm of children need the vibranium to live and the attack was ended
