Mr. Kumel

Origin

Owns a hotel with his wife, Mrs. Kumel, in the old country. Their son (Younger Kumel) lives in America.

Major Story Arcs

Mr. and Mrs. Kumel live a humble life, as they send all their earnings to America to support their son. To supplement the aid, the Mr. Kumel strangles affluent patrons of the hotel and buries their bodies in the basement. He and his wife hate the practice, but they know their duties as parents are stronger than any civic duty to keeping patrons alive.

One day, a particularly rich young man stops in for a visit. True to form, Mr. Kumel strangles the man. When Mayor Burgermeister inquires where the rich young man has gone, the Kumel’s inform him that he left in a hurry early in the morning. They then learn that the young man was their son.
