Mrs. Hudson

Origin

Little is known about the origin of Mrs Hudson. It is speculated that she is Scottish, but this is unconfirmed. At some point she established a home at 221 Baker Street, an upscale residential building. She rented out one of her apartments, 221B, to Sherlock Holmes and Dr John Watson. Though Holmes was an eccentric tenant, he paid well and she was quite fond of him. 

Creation  

Mrs Hudson was created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. She makes her first appearance in A Study in Scarlet. 

Other Media

Mrs Hudson makes numerous appearances as a minor character in many adaptations of the various Sherlock Holmes stories. Recently, she has played an expanded role in the television series Sherlock, where she is played by Una Stubbs.
