Origin
Mutasim Zai’id is the leader of a Mazikhandar military group following the liberation of the country by the Invaders.
Creation
Mutasim Zai’id was created by Allan Jacobsen and Jorge Lucas and first appeared in The New Invaders #6.
Character Evolution
To date, Zai’id has only made one appearance during the Enemy of the State storyline in which he also died. A minor character, he hasn’t appeared or even been referred to since his demise.
Major Story Arcs
Enemy of the State
Zai’id’s militia allied with the Invaders and the Atlanteans in an organized strike on a factory on the outskirts of Mazikhandar which was producing terrorist weapons for groups such as Axis Mundi and HYDRA. Locating and capturing The Necromancer, the scientist responsible for the Pterorists, Zai’id thanked the Invaders and Atlanteans for helping his country.
HYDRA deployed the brainwashed Wolverine to assassinate The Necromancer to stop his knowledge of their plans and inner-workings from being extracted by the Invaders. Wolverine attacked the Invaders, murdering the Atlantean Sulumor and slicing Blazing Skull‘s arm off. Zai’id bravely threw himself into the battle and attempted to fight the mutant only to be almost immediately killed when Wolverine stabbed him in the heart with his claws.
Powers and Abilities
Zai’id possesses no superhuman powers but is a trained soldier and has a loyal army of freedom fighters under his lead.
