Origin

Star Trek Canon Special Note
Not everything listed in the origin is Canon.  That is because only television shows and movies are considered canon.  This being a comic website there are many things here that are not canon.  So unless it is contradicted in film it should be listed as part of the character biography.  
 
Nano is a alien from a race of humanoids called Lirin.  He served on Captain Christopher Pike’s first five year mission.  Nano comes from a perfectly organized race of humanoids as each person is raised to fill a specific position.  Nano was raised to be an Emissary to Starfleet.  Nano is the only Lirin in Starfleet and because of his society he was not allowed return home.
 
Years later his people changed their minds when their were many unexplained deaths and the culture was in periel due to the immediate and unexpected deaths.  It was discovered that their own fear of the unknown manifested itself into a collective psionic blast of fire.  It was discovered then that Nano needed to keep exploring and share his experiences with his people to keep the fear of the unknown out of their minds.

Creation

Namo was created to finalize Captain Christopher Pikes crew from the original televised pilot.
