The Trebaldis is one of the oldest and more powerful families in Rome. When Cosimo Trebaldi installed a regime of fear, most of the nine families were aware of the danger that Trebaldi meant for each of them. But also the patriarch of the Trebaldis, had fear for the future of his family and the life of his younger son due to his libertine life and his sexual leanings. That’s why he murdered Porporito, Nelio’s lover to teach his son that he would have to chose between his sexual life or his own survival. Due to this situation, Maximus Latal tried to convince the younger heir of the Trebaldi family to get his older brother out of the picture. Almost by chance, Nelio rescued the Scorpion from an ambush of the Warrior Monks, and he told the Scorpion about the discomfort of the monks about not getting any reward for their service. This could be used as an advantage against the new Pope. Nelio also told the Scorpion about a ship that the French King was sending to the Pope, and if they could stole it, it would surely be a great defeat for Trebaldi. Nelio was counting on using the Scorpion as a weapon against his brother, but the Scorpion had his doubts about this “new friend”.
