Nimble Jack

Origin

Nimble Jack is a strange person that cannot be seen by everybody else but crazy people only. Nimble feeds on (dead) people’s souls and when he does so he devours their minds entirely and he considers insane people the tastiest, the ones with the most flavor. Crazy people, when alive, are the most colorful to Nimble. Besides feeding on insanity, Nimble can also cure and worsen crazy people but unlike Declan Thomas, this lets Nimble become even stronger and does not weaken his body’s condition. However, Nimble does not seem to be a real person in the first place.

Creation

Nimble Jack was created by Paul Tobin and Juan Ferreyra, and first appeared in Colder #1; published by Dark Horse Comics in 2012.

Character Evolution

A long time ago, in 1941, Nimble Jack let Declan Thomas go and escape the great fire that destroyed the Sansid Asylym for the Criminally Insane in Barnstable, Massachusetts, in 1941. According to Declan, Nimble must have decided to let Declan go back then, because Declan is a special kind of insanity, the finest brew that grows even richer with age like good wine, and Nimble likes to play with his food.
 
When Declan decides to start talking again in present day Boston, and even shows the Hunger World to Reece Talbot, he opens a door for Nimble who immediately starts chasing and playing with his favorite food. When Reece starts believing she may be the crazy one, Nimble becomes attracted to her, too.
