On Puckworld:

The story of the Mighty Ducks begins in another universe, on a planet called Puckworld. On this planet, hockey is not just a sport, but a way of life. Years ago, the planet was saved from a race of reptilian overlords called the Saurians, by a legendary hockey player, Drake Ducaine, who created a goalie mask with the power to see through the enemy’s invisible shields. But no one alive now really knew if Drake Ducaine every really existed. Nosedive was one of the believers. We are first introduced to him one day as he is skating around his big brother Wildwing and his best friend Canard, as they play hockey in an alley.
Days later, the last surviving Saurian overlord, Dragaunus, attacked the planet and enslaved the population. Wildwing and Nosedive became separated from Canard for months. One day, while marching in line (probably toward a work camp), Canard pulled Wildwing out of the line and into an alley. Nosedive followed. Canard revealed that he had been with the military fighting in the resistance, and was now organizing a team of special forces to take out Dragaunus, and that he wanted Wildwing to join him. Wildwing initially refuses, believing there’s no hope. But Canard reveals that he has found Drake Ducaine’s mask.
Nosedive, thrilled that his superhero beliefs were right all along, excitedly reaches for the mask, but Canard coldly says “Beat it, kid. Before you get us all into trouble.” But Wilding steps in and says “No. If you want me, then my brother’s part of the deal.” So Nosedive was outfitted with armor and weaponry, and allowed to join the team. Although, he wasn’t assigned any special position, and was left just to guard the ship when the team infiltrated Dragaunus’s headquarters. But Dive quickly taught himself how to fly the Aerowing and managed to save the team just as the headquarters was exploding.
On Earth:

After passing through a dimensional gateway and arriving in Anaheim, California, Nosedive adapted quickly, immediately being drawn to the comic book shop in the mall, where he befriended Thrash and Mookie, the teenage burnouts who work there. He remains the comic relief of the team, often breaking the fourth wall and making references that the children in the audience probably wouldn’t understand. He can be reckless and outright stupid, since he’s still a teenager, but ultimately, he’s an invaluable member of the team, always throwing himself into any situation with his whole heart, and often scoring the winning goal on the ice.
Relationships with other characters:

Nosedive is excitable and immature, which sometimes causes friction between himself and his fellow teammates. His pranks and recklessness are not appreciated by Mallory. He has a close friendship with Grin, and in the episode “Puck Fiction,” the two of them disguised themselves as gangsters to get the other four ducks out of jail. He has somewhat of a rivalry with Duke, as the two of them competed childishly for the affections of Lucretia DeCoy, a spy sent by Dragaunus.

He looks up to his brother Wildwing, and when Wildwing abandoned the team (because he had lost his confidence as a leader), Nosedive jumped at the chance to take his place, stating “I’m Wildwing’s brother; I’m a legacy, AKA I’m next in succession!”
