Creation

Nui Harime (?? ?, Harime Nui) is an antagonist of the Kill la Kill anime series that was produced by Trigger. It’s directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi and written by Kazuki Nakashima. The character design was done by Sushio.

A tie-in manga series illustrated by Ryou Akizuki began on October 4, 2013 in Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace magazine.

Powers & Abilities

Swordsmanship

Nui has incredible skill in combat and swordsmanship. She has been able to defeat a transformed Goku Uniform and prove to be a formidable challenger to Ryuko in her kamui.

Weapons & Equipment

Bladed Tape Measure Whip

In flashbacks, Nui has been seen to use a retractable tape measure that has a collapsible serrated blade on one side. She uses this as a bladed whip that she swings and slices an enemy with. This was destroyed by Isshin.

Scissor Blade

Nui’s weapon of choice is the purple Scissor Blade (??????, Kata tachi Basami) that was created by Isshin Matoi to counter the power of the Goku Uniforms.

She stole this half of the Rending Scissors after stabbing Isshin with it.

Life Fibers

Though Life Fibers (????, Seimei Seni) are normally used in the creation of clothing, Nui also uses them as both tools and weapons. She uses them to control life-like puppets and even slice clothing.

Kill la Kill (2013)

Kill la Kill (????? Kiru ra Kiru) is the first original anime production created by Trigger, which was founded by two former Gainax employees in 2011. The series is directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, Trigger co-founder; and written by Kazuki Nakashima. The first episode aired on October 3, 2010.

Nui’s first anime appearance was in Kill la Kill – Episode 11I’m Not Your Cute Woman, which aired on December 12, 2013. Although, she has been seen as a shadowy figure in earlier flashbacks. Her character in the Japanese series was voiced by Yukari Tamura.
