Obelisk the Tormentor

Ancient Egypt

In Ancient Egypt Obelsik was one of the three ancient gods that was able to be summoned by the Pharoh, making him one of the three most powerful spirit monsters in existence. The only monsters to rival the three Egyptian Gods were Diabound and the White Dragon.

Duel Monsters

When Maximillion Pegasus created the Duel Monsters card game he searched far and wide to find the carvings of the three Egyptian gods. Despite his archaeological teams misfortunes Pegasus hand painted the designs for the God Cards which released their spirits back into the real world. Pegasus then sealed the cards in the tomb within the original carvings though all but Obelisk would be stolen by rare hunters. Ishizu Ishtar would take Obelsik and give him to Seto Kaiba to prompt him to host the Battle City tournament.
