Opar was Tagak’s animal companion who was also his eyes. Tagak himself was blind and needed Opar to see through his eyes. The pair are actually from a mirror dimension and were only in New York to pursue a shadowy thief by the name of Quothar who stole a sacred statue from their dimension and fled to the city. With the help of Daredevil, Quothar was captured while he was robbing a museum run by Norman Daniels. The capture was not without casualties, however as Opar was shot by security. Daniels believed it was Tagak who was the one behind the string of robberies at the museum and ordered the guards to fire at the pair.
