He was sent with a band of Un-Men by Anton Arcane to subdue the Swamp Thing and bring him back to Castle Arcane. When the Un-Men found the Swamp Thing, they immediately attacked him. The Swamp hing struggled to gain the upper hand, but Cranius, the leader of the Un-Men band, ordered Ophidian to attack as a second wave. He used his hypnotic powers to subdue the Swamp Thing and knock him unconscious. The band of Un-Men then tied the Swamp Thing to a large crucifix like device and ferried him across the ocean to Castle Arcane.
Ophidian is marked as the Swamp Thing’s first opponent to ever take him down in the heat of combat.Â
