Outpost was an artificial Intelligence of an alien world with the task to accompany and help the protector of that world, the alien Champion. The world of Ourtpost was once attacked by alien invaders who were defeated by Champion, and as retaliation they have poisoned the atmophere of the world. To save the population all the people were put in suspended animation and their civilization covert by an special resine to preserve their inner mechanisms. Meanwhile, Champion and Outpost were the ones tasked with the protection of the surviving sleeping people.
When a marooned Superman found the world, Champion believed him to be a menace and fought against him, uncapable to understand him by the language barrier. Superman choose to pretend to be defeated to discover the secrets of Champions and find a way to return to Earth. Champion discovered the deceit and tried to fight again against the kryptonian but the intervention of Outpost stopped the fight, leaving Champion unconcious. Outpost talked to Superman and told him the story of Champion. He gave Superman the directions to return to earth and after Superman left, he awoke Champion again, to resume their task as protectors of a sleeping world.
