Vurk is an alien outcast of the Darkur. His exact crime is unknown, but it carries a death sentence. Instead he came to Earth and joined the Solution in order to gain allies. His people seem to be natural enemies of Shadowmage’s race the Vyr, which makes an interesting dynamic.
