Patrick Hattrick

Patrick Hader was studying to break into the field of psychology, but he got sidetracked when his friend, Gary, told him about a psychic who could communicate with the dead and told him the future. After hearing so much about this woman Patrick went to her hoping to debunk her. She gave him a reading and was incredibly accurate. He thought it was a set up or at best she was great at cold reads. Using a Ouiji Board she bought up his granddad and the watch he gave Patrick, which he still wore as well as other things she couldn’t know.

Patrick left, believing it had to be some form psychological trickery. He started investigating and studying cold reading techniques, which opened the door to stage magic. He became fascinated with the world of illusion and his knowledge of the human mind helped him design tricks. When he finally thought he was good enough he wanted to go back to the psychic and expose her, but one thing he really wanted to figure out was how Ouija boards worked. He bought one and convinced his friends to use it with him. They played around with the board a few times, but nothing ever happened to make Patrick believe there was anything to it other than ideomotor phenomenon. One night, after getting bored with it he and his friends got drunk. His friends went home and Patrick passed out watching adult videos.

That night he dreamed he was having sex with the psychic, then she suddenly grew claws and started digging her nails into his back. He awoke in pain with, what appeared to be a woman, sitting atop him engaged in intercourse. He couldn’t break free of her. After he finished, she hissed at him and disappeared. He eventually got up, dismissing this as some form of sleep paralysis bought on by the sex vids, except when he found there were actually scratches marks on his back.

Patrick had several more incidents like this and became scared to go to sleep. He began to feel lethargic and would have random shooting pains throughout his body. He also started to experience narcolepsy and would wake up in different locations. He went to his doctor, but after several visits and tests, nothing was found to be wrong with him. He was given sleeping pills and sent on his way. That night he had another experience, this time when he woke he with another female being on top of him. When he tried to speak his voice was gone and his head felt like it was on fire and he couldn’t even think. He tried to push her off, but she dug her claws in, held him down then bit him. He blacked out and when he woke, she was gone. There was no blood, but marks were left.

Once Patrick went back to Blue, the psychic, she told him he was being attacked by succubi and was a fool for playing around with the Ouija board the way he did. Patrick said he would pay to get rid of the succubi. Blue took the money and introduced him to Damious a practitioner of succubi magic who commanded the succubi to release him. Patrick instantly felt better. He went home, burned the Ouiji board as instructed and went to sleep. He slept well.

Patrick went back to working on magic tricks and did several successful shows, but he couldn’t get the fact out of his head that real magic existed. He went back to Damious’ home and asked to learn. He was repeatedly told no, but eventually convinced Damious to allow him to be a servant. He would work for free and really just wanted to know about real magic.

Powers and Abilities

Patrick is a skilled stage magician who loves classic magic tricks and builds his own. He uses illusion and trickery versus actual magic on stage and can use his tricks for entertainment or, if in a bad situation, as a diversion or even as an attack. Part of Patrick’s training is martial arts. While master of none, he’s a formidable fighter and even has some Iron Body training. His knowledge of the human mind allows him to better train his own mind. Through meditation and focus, Patrick was able to craft a solid danger sense allowing him to know when something bad is about to happen and how big of a threat it is. Patrick also has slight cosmic awareness, allowing him to perceive oncoming ethereal threats and sense cloaked beings, but not at the level of others such as Blue, Hanover Blake or Damious himself.
