Origin
Pippin lived in the Shire like most hobbits until Frodo was given the quest to destroy the One Ring. Pippin and his best friend Merry decided to come with him. He traveled with Frodo, Sam and Merry on the way to Rivendell where they met Tom Bombadil and Aragorn. During a meeting regarding what would happen to the One Ring, Pippin became a member of the Fellowship of the Ring.
Creation
Like all Lord of the Rings characters, Pippin was created by J.R.R. Tolkien originally as stories for his son Christopher which later became books and were later adapted into films and graphic novels.
Story
He traveled with the Fellowship of the Ring through the Mines of Moria but was kidnapped by Urak Hai along with Merry after they left. The Uruk Hai carried the two hobbits until they reached the edge of Fangorn forest where the Uruk Hai were attacked by Eomer and the Rohan warriors and Pippin and Merry took the opportunity to escape. In Fangorn forest they met Treebeard and joined the ents in the attack on Isengard. During the attack Grima Wormtongue used the Palantir as a missile which Pippin subsequently picked up. Gandalf noticed and took it back but a short time later, when staying in Rohan, Pippin took the Palantir from Gandalf’s hands as he slept.
Because of Pippin’s use of the Palantir, Sauron was aware of his presence causing Gandalf to decide to bring Pippin with him to Gondor. Here, Pippin met Denethor, father of Boromir and took responsibility for Boromir’s death as he had died protecting Pippin. Pippin joined the Gondorian knights and served Denethor personally. He later saved Faramir from being cremated when Denethor thought him already dead.
To buy Frodo and Sam more time to destroy the Ring, armies gathered at the Black Gate for a final battle, Pippin amongst them.
After the destruction of the Ring, the four hobbits returned to the Shire only to find it taken over by Saruman. The hobbits, using their new fighting experience, were able to finally eradicate Saruman.
