Major Story Arcs
As guardian of the Flame Temple, Petocl grows concerned that the Flame Goddess is getting along in years. Fortunately, a replacement is found, as Shelia Vernow stumbles into the ancient city. He bestows upon Shelia the Flame Scepter and the right to be called the new Flame Goddess. He also instructs her to kill two prisoners, Cliff Barron and Neal Vernow (her lost brother). Petocl watches the sacrificial ceremony in awe, as neither men is able to be killed by Shelia’s knife. She is able to convince him that the men are gods and worthy of a banquet.
