The Phantom of the Fair made his first appearance at New York’s World Fair, April 30 1939.
He was attempting to shut down the fair and scare Mayor Laguardia and the patrons. King George VI and Queen Elizabeth I were in attendance. Wesley Dodd made his first appearance as the Sandman. The Phantom used the fair’s robot Elektro to attack his and her majesty. The Crimson Avenger was in attendance to help the Sandman. This is arguably the first super hero conflict. The Phantom has never made another documented appearance.
