In the town of Red Gulch, Jeff Grant is the town blacksmith, and a man known to be so peaceful that he is the only man in town who doesn’t carry or even own a gun.

Unknown to the people of Red Gulch Jeff has a secret, back before he moved to the West he was a master stage magician, one of the best ever seen on the stages of the East.

Seeing the crime surrounding, and from time to time invading, Red Gulch in the form of bank robbers and stage robbers Jeff puts his skills to use by becoming the masked vigilante known as the Presto Kid.

Still shunning the use of a gun Jeff instead uses his skills as a stage magician to make the bandits think he has real magical powers.
