Princess Elthena Minnerville is estranged from her lover Leopold because he is a common peasant. When the Black Tarantula comes across her he is smitten and manipulates her into allowing him to “kill” her. She becomes a pseudo-vampire and remains loyal to Leopold who eventually frees her of the Tarantula’s curse. Leopold and Princess Elthena then marry.
