Professor Lafarge was hired by Victor von Doom to build his missile silos, unbeknownst to his daughter who thought he was forced by Doom by kidnapping her. According to Lafarge he never actually cared for his daughter and that he was only in it for himself. Professor Lafarge died when he fired at Thor with a pistol while Thor swung Mjolnir which caused the bullets to ricochet back at him killing him.
