Psychodoughboy

Origin

Psychodoughboy was originally part of a pastry display stand. At some point, Johnny removed him and his “brother,” Mr Eff, from their display and re-painted them. Some time after being brought into the house, Psychodoughboy became a personification of Johnny’s hallucinations.

Creation

Psychodoughboy was created by Jhonen Vasquez. Physically, he is based on the Pillsbury Doughboy.

Major Story Arcs

Johnny the Homicidal Maniac

Psychodoughboy is initially one of the personifications of the voices that guide Johnny. He later comes under the sway of the Wall Monster, and ceases to be a part of Johnny, gaining freedom of thought and the ability to move of his own free will. Psychodoughboy manifests self-destructive despair. In opposition to his brother, he constantly urges Johnny to just give up and kill himself, driving Johnny nearly to the point of suicide on numerous occasions. It is later revealed that he wants Johnny to kill himself so that the Wall Monster will be able to enter the world, whereupon he and his brother will be reabsorbed into the Monster. He is constantly thwarted by Johnny’s numerous failed suicide attempts, as well as the machinations of his brother and Nailbunny, who stop Johnny from attempting suicide on a number of occasions. He is victorious in their constant battles when Johnny accidentally kills himself, releasing the Wall Monster and destroying the universe.Â
