Puck

Origin

Zuzha Yu is the daughter of Eugene Judd (Puck) of Alpha Flight and an Asian woman he meets during his travels, though Judd does not raise her and she does not know who her father is. She inherited his abilities and learned martial arts and street fighting. She eventually joined Alpha Flight as he did.

Creation

Zuzha Yu was created by Scott Lobdell and Clayton Henry and first appeared in Alpha Flight Vol.3 issue 1 (2004).

Major Story Arcs

Alpha Flight

Zuzha Yu is owner and proprietor of her own bar when Dr. Walter Langowski, the superhero known as Sasquatch, finds her and tries to recruit her for a team he is building to rescue the original Alpha Flight. Although Yu has no urge to join, she is interested enough in him personally to make a bet that she could beat him at arm wrestling. She would join if he won, but he would have to be her love slave for a year if she beat him. Sasquatch beats her and she agrees to join Alpha Flight for one year as promised as Puck.

After an alternate version of the original Alpha Flight team from the past is brought to the present, most of the replacements quit the team. Yu, however, stays on and continues to go by “Puck” despite her father bearing the same name.

In the time spent as a member of Alpha Flight, she develops romantic feelings for her teammate Major Mapleleaf. Major Mapleleaf and Zuzha Yu eventually marry and have a son.

The Collective

Most recently, Zuzha is involved in the battle against The Collective. The Collective quickly overwhelm both Mapleleaf and Puck with a wave of nanotech scorpions and are eventually killed by the powerful being.

Powers

Zuzha Yu possesses many of the same powers as her father: superhuman strength and durability as well as his enhanced agility. She also has the ability to bounce from wall to wall like a pinball, just like her father.

She is an excellent hand to hand combatant with training in martial arts and street fighting.
