Creation
The Punk Waitress was created by writer John Ney Rieber and artist Peter Gross in the Arcana Annual 1 in 1994.
Major Story Arcs
The Punk Waitress regularly runs into Books of Magic characters, usually to lend an ear or a hand in need. Her name is never given. She has a slightly different appearance from issue to issue, and works in various eateries, but is recognizable by her hair.
She helps out Marya when she first returns to Earth. She gets Marya some jewelry back from a jeweler, and then finds Tim Hunter in the phone book for her. She works in a cafe at this time. Marya later works in a cafe, presumably the same one.
Around this same time, Tim and Molly get ice cream, and seemingly go to her shop based on later descriptions, although she is not seen on panel.
Later, she is working at a Chinese restaurant. Kenny the Gnome comes in. He is a regular for her, and she gets him some food.
Surprisingly, when the war of heavens destroys many parts of London, the ice cream shop is the only one that is not burned down in its area. It is not explicitly noted to be the Punk Waitress’s shop, but it is likely to be the case.
After Molly decides she’s really over Tim, Molly decides to have some ice cream, and goes into the Punk Waitress’ shop. She remembers her from when she got ice cream with Tim long ago, and upon hearing they’re no longer together, gives her some extra sprinkles on the house. She’s surprised to realize that Molly is the locally-known miracle girl who floats and can’t touch the ground, due to a curse from Titania. This reminds Molly that she can’t eat human food, so she has to leave. This all implies that Molly and Marya, who still knows the Waitress, don’t hang out any more.
The Waitress has a necklace with a Fairy sculpture, part of a fad of Fairy dolls. These dolls, it turns out, are real fairies turned into toys by Barbatos. Molly suggests getting rid of the necklace, even though the Waitress does believe in fairies.
Much later, the Punk Waitress is seen walking with Marya, and giving some coins to a homeless Bill Hunter. She carries a baby.
Other Versions
In an alternate dimension created by Tim, she meets the Other, who at the time is just laying low and not trying to kill anyone. They both work at a greasy spoon style of restaurant. However, the Other still is a pretty terrible person. He gives her magic drugs and then rapes her when she’s under the influence. When the local-world’s Tim shows up, he undoes the spell. She realizes what happened, slaps Tim, and runs off.
