Rack, along with Ruin, attacked the Sun Dollar Cafe in an attempt to grab the Blue Beetle‘s attention. The duo held people hostage and were planning on resorting to civilian casualties. Once the Blue Beetle came, the two easily beat up Reyes. The Blue Beetle smashed the two on the ground, revealing their metahuman powers. Rack and Ruin quickly regenerated by re-attaching their body parts together. Ted Kord then filled the cafe with a cloud of blue gas, making Rack and Ruin retreat. It is later suggested that the two work for, or at least are looked over, La Dama, a local crime lord.
