Background:
Rak Arranya was a veteran Green Lantern who perished in battle with the barbaric slavers, the Barookis, over the planet Zilliph. Rak Arranya’s defenses were pierced by enemy fire and the Green Lantern plummeted to the planet below. There, the arachnoid-esque Rak Arranya passed his ring onto Taa of Zilliph, who then became his successor as protector of Sector 996 for the Green Lantern Corps.
