Rangi is the local kid who spends his free time at the Footrot farm, pestering the Dog and hanging out with Pongo and Wal. He attacked the dog as a boy because he wanted to skin him for a coat. Rangi often helps Wal to train for the Rugby season, showing him up at every turn.
