Redfeather, or as she likes to be called, “Tonta,” lives in a Native American village with her father and brother. She is a Hawaiian witch who carries around a surfboard in the desert.

Major Story Arcs
Redfeather is tasked by Grandmother Arrow to help their tribe relocate to higher ground. She is taken off this assignment, however, when Grandmother Arrow alerts her that a fellow Hawaiian witch friend is in trouble. Redfeather receives a bow and a single arrow and is told that she should be able to figure out when the appropriate time to use the arrow would be. She departs to find her friend, Whisky Jill.
It doesn’t take long to figure out when to use the arrow. Redfeather finds Jill at the mercy of the Marshall. She fires the arrow and hits the Marshall’s rifle just before he fires. This act saves Jill’s life and seems to kill the Marshall when his misfired bullet ricochets into a boulder that falls on him. She leaves without saying goodbye to Jill.
Redfeather follows Jill and meets up with her in the desert. She meets Rod McCloud and helps set up camp for the night. Redfeather and Rod do some talking while Jill goes in search of firewood. Before she can react, a man hits Redfeather from behind and takes Rod. Jill rushes in with Grandmother Arrow and Redfeather tells all she can. Jill runs off and Redfeather gets cared for by her grandmother.
A bit later, Redfeather strikes out and finds Rod tied to a tree. She frees him and asks where Jill has gone. Rod explains to her that Jill said she’d be back.
