Major Story Arcs

The Zodiac Tests

After the Midnight Mission accomplished a number of good deeds in the neighborhood, the criminal known as Zodiac was determined to prove Moon Knight a fraud. He did so by a number of complicated and elaborate schemes to defeat Moon Knight.

Zodiac would ultimately attack The Midnight Mission after tricking Moon Knight and his fighter allies into going to New Jersey. Reese and newest recruit, Soldier, were left behind and forced to confront Zodiac and his new gang despite being outnumbered. Unfortunately, Moon Knight could not get back to his office in time to save Soldier. Soldier’s death caused Reese to lash out and almost kill Zodiac, but she was stopped by Moon Knight, who had slipped into his Steve Grant identity, revealing his dissociative identity disorder to Reese for the first time.

The Structure

When Zodiac shot through Reese and killed Soldier, enough DNA survived on the bullet to infect Soldier with Reese’s vampiric curse. This got the attention of Tutor, the vampire who had sired Reese and was running the vampire cult, The Structure. He believed that Soldier was the first of many, so he treated the Midnight Mission as a rival organization.

After Moon Knight did some investigating, they tracked The Structure to a convention center, where they were having a fancy meeting. Moon Knight intended to confront them, but he needed Soldier to use his domestic terrorism training. Soldier, with Reese watching his back, sabotaged the fire suppression system, forcing the sprinklers to go off in the main hall, for Moon Knight to consecrate into holy water.

The Last Days of Moon Knight

The new Mission
The new Mission

The Midnight Mission was targeted by a mysterious new Black Spectre, who was working with a number of Moon Knight’s old foes. One such villain was Sidney Sarnak, who had perfected a way of brainwashing people with sound. One test incident was when they caused a riot during a concert that Reese and Soldier were in attendance of. After interrogating one of the his goons, Moon Knight learned that Black Spectre planned on using this technology on the entire New York population. Moon Knight tracked the operation to a skyscraper in the city and formed a field team, leaving Reese behind with the House of Shadows to continue the good work of the Midnight Mission.

Unfortunately, Black Spectre was also working with Zodiac, who took the opportunity to target the House of Shadows in Moon Knight’s absence. He broke in and was impressed by Reese’s grasp of her new vampiric abilities, however, Reese couldn’t get close to him thanks to the holy symbol around his neck, his own name. Instead, Reese left the House of Shadows to take him.

Zodiac started singing a different tune upon learning that Moon Knight wouldn’t be resurrected this time if Black Spectre was successful. Reese didn’t trust Zodiac, but the House read his mind and let him go. Meanwhile, across town, Moon Knight sacrificed himself to take out Black Spectre’s weapons. Per his last wish, Reese agreed to continue running the Mission.

Vengeance of Moon Knight

While trying to protect their part of New York, the Midnight Mission is attacked by a masked mystery man claiming to be the new Moon Knight. He had already attacked 8-Ball and was looking to target the rest for being too ineffectual or monstrous to carry on the legacy. He easily fought off the whole team, however, when he entered the Mission, the sentient building rejected him completely. This forced the new Moon Knight to give up on taking back the storefront but warned them to stay out of his way.

Unfortunately, this was only the beginning of the problem. This new Moon Knight went after masked criminals so aggressively, that those masked criminals started targeting the Midnight Mission, putting the community they protect in danger. They were forced to approach Lady Yulan and call in the favor they earned taking out The Structure.
