Rex Rogan’s company, Repli-Tech Industries was sliding into bankruptcy. Rogan made a radical move and turned himself and his board of directors into animal-man hybrids called Ani-Men. These Ani-Men are not the same ones that were the underlings of Anton Arcane, the antagonist of Swamp Thing. Rogan, calling himself Maximus Rex created a base that he dubbed The Arena. The Ani-Men would slaughter the ultra-rich for pure amusement. The Justice League went to shut down the operation and bring the Ani-Men to justice. They were trounced in their initial battle. The next battle the League learned that the transformation still de-volved the Ani-men and they became mindless beasts. It is believed that Maximus Rex died in battle.
