Roland Gardner is the father of Mace (Gerald), Guy Gardner and Gloria Gardner. He is an abusive and alcoholic father. He hold great pride in being an police officer although he is currently retired. He dream was for all his children to follow in his footsteps. This was always a source of contention with Guy.

New 52: In the New 52 Roland is known as Ebenezer Gardner. It is unknown if Roland and Ebenezer are the same person. In other words one of the names could be a middle name.
