Creation
Royd Lloyd (ロイド・ロイド, Roido Roido) is an antagonist of the BLEACH series that was created by Tite Kubo, It first began serialization Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in August 2001. He was first introduced during the The Thousand-Year Blood War Arc that began in Volume 55.
He first appeared in BLEACH Volume 56 CH. 497 “KILL THE SHADOW 2“.
Character Evolution
Major Story Arcs
Royd first appears during the Thousand-Year Blood War Arc, during the Vandenreich’s invasion of Soul Society. Royd uses his abilities to replicate Yhwach’s appearance and memories before taking his place on the front lines of battle. Posing as Yhwach, Royd confronts Captain-Commander Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto and engages him in battle. Royd ultimately loses in the conflict and is fatally wounded when Yamamoto slices a large portion of his body clean off. Yhwach himself appears and tells Royd that he did well before blasting Royd with energy and incinerating his body to ashes.
Powers & Abilities
Physical Imitation – Royd possesses the ability to imitate another’s entire physical appearance and is capable of reverting to his own appearance at will.
Memory Imitation – Royd automatically replicates the memories of whomever he physically imitates and can access all of their past encounters and emotions, adding further credence to his imitation.
