Sage is first introduced to the reader in issue 5 through a miniature solo story. She later meets up with Annie and Nibbil on the street and the three of them become good friends. Sage appears in every issue of Volume 2 of “Small Favors.” (issues 5-8)
In the final issue Sage questions Annie and Nibbil about their relationship, and how Nibbil is a physical manifestation of Annie’s conscience. She is disheartened that she does not have her own physical conscience or a relationship as strong as the one Annie and Nibbil share. They attend a yardsale in the same issue where they meet a girl named Delphine who fills this void in Sage’s life.
