Saizuchi is very old and as such he has seen quite a bit of the history of his country, when he did not agree with how the government was running the country he made plans to start a rebellion.
Â
One day he happened upon a giant by the name of Fuji who was about to be killed by a mob, he saved the giant and since he was the more keen intellect he used words and Fuji’s gratefulness to him to make the giant do his bidding. They became a duo of quite the repute.
When shishio approached him with his plans for a coup he went along with it since it coincided with his own vision. And he believes that his old age makes him the one who is right since he has lived so long.Â
Â
He is instumental in the attack on Aoi-Ya and would have won if Kenshin’s teacher Hiko had not reached fuji with his kind words. After their duel when fuji losses he was knocked unconscious when Fuji’s left arm fell on him.Â
Â
As a way to avoid jail time Saizuchi later works for the Diplomacy Department in the government for sticky situations after Shishio’s death.
