Giovanni Savarese is the son of a small Sicilian landowner in the early twentieth century. His father is killed for mafia issues and he is forced to flee to Palermo after the systematic killing of all the members of his family. From here, after a quarrel with relatives who exploited him, he embarks on a ship bound for the United States. He grew up in Little Italy neighborhood of New York. He is mocked for his slender build, but is endowed with an innate honesty and deductive intelligence. Savarese will first enlist in the city police, and then he will become part of the first nucleus of the fledgling FBI.
