Origin
Wiske had her doll Schanulleke since she was very young. Wiske gets very upset if something happens to her doll. In some adventures, Schanulleke has come alive to aid Wiske.
In the story ‘Bibbergoud‘, Schanulleke was tranformed into a human-sized indian named Sachem by a magical totem.
In ‘De Tirannieke Tor‘, she was bombarded with radiation and was transformed into a superhero.
According to the tale in ‘Sterrenrood‘, the doll was bought in the early 1900s by Madeleine Scapin de Boule for her daughter Marie. Marie had named the doll Scaboul. When Marie died at the age of 11, Madeleine kept the doll as a reminder. On board of one of the many ships from Europe to America, Madeleine met an ancestor of Wiske, also named Wiske. Wiske reminded her of her daughter and she gave Wiske the doll. Wiske renamed the doll Scaboelleke. When Wiske was born, her ancestor came from America to Belgium and gave the young Wiske her doll, which was again renamed to Schabolleke and later Schanulleke.
