Science Officer 0718 is an artificial lifeform created by the USS Enterprise just a little while before the events of Star Trek Into Darkness. He was originally an avatar of the Enterprise’s computer. However, after that computer returned to its mainframe to save the crew, the body that was left was revived by Spock and became part of the crew of the Enterprise with no memory of previous events. He did not have a name, but instead used his Starfleet ID number, 0718. In the years that followed, Science Officer 0718 became known as the first and only humanoid-machine interface in Starfleet whose job on the Enterprise was to run diagnostics to make sure the Enterprise was okay as seen Star Trek Into Darkness. He also became known as a scientist who spent time in the botanical lab during his spare time. He has been working on a paper comparing the biological nervous system and the circuitry of a computer.
