Sedat

Origin

Stadatt’s past is somewhat mysteries. At some point he entered the Chantry, trained to become a Templar, and was stationed at the Circle Tower.

History

While training in the Circle Tower, Sadatt met Veness in a tense first meeting. Following the encounter, Sadatt is present while the other Templars bring in a captured Apostate who turns out to be a Blood Mage. Sadatt hesitates and is unable to strike down the mage, who is slain by Knight-Commander Gregoir. Gregoir warns the young Templar to never be off his guard and titles Sadatt “the one who hesitates”.

Later that night, Sadatt told Veness of the encounter with the blood mage as they are sharing a bed. The two then slept together and Sadatt left before morning come. The following day, Sadatt saw Veness talking closely with her friend Abernath and misconstrued the conversation as something romantic between the two. He became jealous and avoided Veness for the following eight months.

After that period, the templars discovered that Veness was pregnant and seek to find out who the father of her child was. The mages conjured a spell that reacted as the father approached Veness. After unsuccessful approaching with several apprentices, Sadatt bringed forth Abernath, triggering the spell.

Upon hearing that her child would be given to the Chantry, Veness fled the Circle Tower, becoming an Apostate. Greagoir gave Sadatt her phylactery and tasked him to hunt her down and kill her. Sadatt rode from the tower and eventually located Veness but no sign of the child, which she had birthed and given away. As he engaged her in combat, Veness told him that the child was his and claimed he never loved her. As he drives his sword through her, he confessed that he thought she was with Abernath and that he had always loved her.

After returning to the Circle Tower, Sadatt prayed to Andraste and claimed that he would never love again and focused only on his responsibilities as a Templar and declared that henceforth he will only go by the name “Duty”.
