Origin
Shake is an anthropomorphic elephant who enjoyed a variety of misadventures in the comic Shiver and Shake, where he also served as editor to the Shake half of the comic.
Creation
Portrayed as one of the comic’s two editors, Shake debuted in the first issue of Shiver and Shake. The comic’s title was apparently inspired by a strip of the same name which had previously appeared in Cor!!, and the other editor, Shiver, had previously starred in that Cor!! strip as one half of a ghostly duo whose names provided the strip’s title- confusingly however, in the Cor!! strip, the rotund ghost Shiver had been called Shake, with the other ghost being Shiver.
